چکیده
A fast method to simultaneously calibrate multiple MEMS Magnetic Inertial Measurement Units (MIMUs) accurately in the field is needed many application areas. The MIMUs require calibration of systematic errors bias, sensitivity, non-orthogonality and misalignment, which vary with temperature use. Even after calibration, sensors undergo stochastic static dynamic conditions thus uncertainty output must also be modeled. We propose a for easy together, while mounted on single platform. precise alignment not assumed. Measurement Uncertainty Evaluation Associated with Calibration Functions
− Calibration procedures are widely implemented in metrology. This paper considers the evaluation of measurement uncertainty associated with the use of a calibration function. Three methods for uncertainty evaluation are described and the differences in the results returned are discussed. A simple calibration function is used to illustrate these differences.
متن کاملSystematic Calibration for Ultra-High Accuracy Inertial Measurement Units
An inertial navigation system (INS) has been widely used in challenging GPS environments. With the rapid development of modern physics, an atomic gyroscope will come into use in the near future with a predicted accuracy of 5 × 10(-6)°/h or better. However, existing calibration methods and devices can not satisfy the accuracy requirements of future ultra-high accuracy inertial sensors. In this p...
متن کاملFast Thermal Calibration of Low-Grade Inertial Sensors and Inertial Measurement Units
The errors of low-cost inertial sensors, especially Micro-Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) ones, are highly dependent on environmental conditions such as the temperature. Thus, there is a need for the development of accurate and reliable thermal compensation models to reduce the impact of such thermal drift of the sensors. Since the conventional thermal calibration methods are typically time-c...
متن کاملData Fusion Algorithms for Multiple Inertial Measurement Units
A single low cost inertial measurement unit (IMU) is often used in conjunction with GPS to increase the accuracy and improve the availability of the navigation solution for a pedestrian navigation system. This paper develops several fusion algorithms for using multiple IMUs to enhance performance. In particular, this research seeks to understand the benefits and detriments of each fusion method...

The Department of Mechanical Engineering and Avionics Engineering Center at Ohio University are developing an electromechanical system for the calibration of an inertial measurement unit (IMU) using global positioning system (GPS) antennas. The GPS antennas and IMU are mounted to a common platform to be oriented in the angular roll, pitch, and yaw motions. Vertical motion is also included to te...
